[01-07-2018] Primer fin de semana / First weekend

Es increíble la efectividad de la inmersión, el simple hecho de mimetizarse en una cultura y, según pasan los días, entender más y más. Desde mi experiencia, diría que hace falta un poco de esfuerzo por comprender los primeros días, pero después te das cuenta cómo las expresiones se repiten, las construcciones, e incluso predices lo que van a decir. Al principio es todo una maraña, vocalizaciones en las que entiendes menos de la mitad. Quizá una palabra con suerte. Vas a perder información, hay que asumirlo. Pero más tarde es al revés, son dos o tres palabras las que no entiendes. Y ahí es cuando te toca pedir que te lo repitan. Que incluso puede ser que hayan nombrado alguna marca, normal que no hayas entendido entonces.  

Creo que justo hoy he soñado en inglés, con los niños que cuido, creo. 

Los primeros días me resultaba súper difícil cambiar de idioma, por ejemplo a la hora de hablar con amigos, familia etc. No quería salir del inglés porque sabía que iba a ser difícil volver a el. Pero hay que hacerlo, acostumbrarse al cambio. Y no solo con dos, pues también estoy repasando italiano. La práctica es lo que hace sencilla la travesía entre idiomas.  

De hecho, tengo en mente grabar algún vídeo para mi canal de YouTube con los niños. Ya tengo algunas ideas y va a ser divertido porque me gustaría que ellos hablaran en inglés y yo en español. Va a ser suuper dificil cambiar tan rápido, ya siento que me toma tiempo traducir palabras al español.

The effectiveness of the immersion is incredible, the simple fact of becoming camouflaged in a culture and, as days go by, being able to understand more and more. From my experience, I would say that, the first days, a little effort to understand is needed; but little by little you realize that some expressions are constantly appearing in dialogues, some constructions, and you can even predict what others are going to say. At first all of this is a tangle, utterances in which you understand less than a half. Maybe a word, luckily. You are going to lose information, this has to be assumed. But later it will be all the way around, only two or three words will be the ones you do not understand. And at this point is when you have to ask for repetitions. Some incomprehensible word will surely be brand names, which is normal, not easy to understand.

I think that today I have dreamt in English. With the kids I take care.

The first days it was so difficult for me to change the language, for example when talking with friends, family and etc. from Spain. I didn’t want to leave English aside because I knew that it would be very difficult to go back to it. But that has to be done, to get used to changing. And not only with two, since I am also reviewing Italian. Practice is what makes easy the voyage between languages.

In fact, I have something interesting in mind: to record some videos with the kids for my YouTube channel. I have already write down some ideas and it will be very enjoyable because I would like them to talk in Spanish and me in English. It will be veeery difficult to change so quick, since I already need to take some time to translate words into Spanish.
